When re-tensioning the exchangers, they are first opened with those tools and then re-tightened to the correct width. "The target torque value is not that critical when working on plate heat exchangers. The continuous rotation of the torque multiplier to properly tighten the plates with enough force is crucial, though," explains Hans-Joachim von Albedyhll, a sales and application engineer of alki TECHNIK GmbH.
The radial torque multipliers EF-SG / EFC-R with the electric drive and CLS-SG, 80 / RCL 80 with the pneumatic drive of the alkitronic R/SG series, fulfil this requirement and are in use at ProCom Armaturentechnik GmbH for more than ten years - with very satisfying results: "Compared to working with so-called impact wrenches, there is a lot less wear and tear and the time savings during the opening and closing of the plate heat exchangers are immense," Andreas Hustädte, Managing Director at ProCom GmbH, states the advantages of the alkitronic torque multipliers for his company.
